Firefighters with the Loganville Fire Department rescued the woman from the home at 56 S Main St. Loganville Borough shortly after the fire broke out at 10:35 a.m. on Sept. 19, according to a release by Pennsylvania State Trooper James Grothey.
"While the victim was being attended to by EMS, they succumbed to their injuries," Grothey said.
The 51-year-old was identified as Cathy Null, by her sister-in-law Karen Dagle which was confirmed the following day by the York County Coroner's office.
York County Deputy Coroner Molly York was called to the scene to investigate and certify her death at 10:46 a.m. and her time of death was 11:49 a.m.
Null was a former write-in candidate for Loganville Mayor according to her Facebook profile shared by Dagle.
She was the former zoning board chair and threw her hat into the ring for Mayor in 2021.
Two adults were in the home and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to the county coroner's office.
Null has a son and a daughter, according to Dagle, but it is not immediately clear if they are adults or were in the home where the fire broke out.
PSP York Patrol Unit, the Criminal Investigation Unit, and a Fire Marshal are on the scene investigating as of noon.
South Main Street was closed in both directions between Mill and W. Ore streets during the fire and investigation, authorities told Daily Voice.
"In addition to her community ties, Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, sister, and daughter who was adored by all who knew her. Her infectious laugh and smile will be forever missed," her niece Alecia Odom wrote in a GoFundMe.
The funds raised will help her husband and children as well as cover the funeral costs.
Odom also told Daily Voice that Mamma's Pizza Italian Ristorante and sub shop in Loganville is also having a donation jar for any local neighbors to donate to help Cathy's family.
The family also thanks "the numerous first responders for their quick actions and bravery, ensuring the safety of Cathy's husband and daughter."
This is one of three deadly fires in Pennsylvania that Daily Voice has reported on in less than 24 hours. A man died in a fire in Allentown overnight and a grandfather died in a home explosion and house fire in Elizabethtown on Monday morning.
