A man barricaded in a basement with a hatchet and a machete following a fight with a teenager has been shot dead, the Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele announced on Sunday, Sept. 15. East Greenville Police were sent to a home in the 100 block of Cherry Street for a domestic incident called into 911 by an 18-year-old around 8:08 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, as detailed in the release. Traffic slowed to a halt on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia Friday morning as police were involved in a standoff with an armed driver, authorities told Daily Voice. It began around 8:30 a.m. when officers spotted an "erratic" driver in the southbound lane near the Girard Avenue exit, police said. Barricaded Gunman Arrested In Poconos: State Police
An armed standoff with a gunman in Carbon County ended peacefully on Thursday after state police took the suspect into custody, according to authorities. It happened in Lower Towamensing Township just after 11 a.m. on June 22, troopers said in a release. Police were called to a residence for a reported assault in progress but spotted an armed suspect retreat into the house when they arrived, officials wrote. UPDATE: Elmwood Park detectives signed murder and weapons charges against the grandson of a prominent borough resident who authorities said was killed when he interrupted a burglary.
