Six Partiers Rescued From Sinking Boat Along Schuylkill River: Coast Guard
Six partiers were rescued from a sinking 20-foot boat on the Schuylkill River in Southeast Philadelphia, authorities said. At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, first responders got a call from one of the boaters who said their vessel was taking on water at the Platt Bridge, the U.S. Coast Guard reported. The Philadelphia Fire Department's marine unit was able to pull alongside the boat and rescue its occupants, the Coast Guard said.

Driver Plunges Into Schuylkill River In Philly
A car drove into the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, authorities said. At about 3:40 a.m., an unusual incident occurred at 1273 Kelly Drive in the 22nd District. Police and fire department personnel responded to a 911 call reporting that a black four-door sedan had been seen driving into the river. The vehicle was located; however, at press time no driver or passenger had been located, police said. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Swimmer Drowns In Schuylkill River In Reading, Officials Say
One person died while swimming near Reading's Riverfront Park on Saturday, June 29, according to city officials. Reading firefighters said the male victim was seen going into the water near "Penske Beach" and never came back out. The body of a 30-year-old man was pulled from the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia Tuesday, June 18, police said. Video shared to the Citizen App shows a Philadelphia Marine Unit at the scene on the 2400 block of Walnut Street. A spokesperson for the city police department said the man, identified only as John Doe, was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m.

Authorities are searching for a 70-year-old man who went missing on a fishing trip in the Schuylkill River on Monday, April 29. The man set off in a kayak from the Upper Merion Township boathouse, 400 Falls View Drive, police said in a release. Norristown Police Department officers are credited with rescuing a man and his daughter after their truck was submerged in the Schuylkill River on Labor Day afternoon, Sept. 4. Officer Matthew Walsh was on patrol in Riverfront Park around 2 p.m. Monday when he spotted a pickup truck on the boat ramp "begin accelerating towards" the river, the department said. Body Found By Campers On Schuylkill River Island ID'd As Missing Man: Report
A body found by campers last month on an island in the Schuylkill River was identified as a Reading man who went missing six months earlier, WFMZ reports. The body of 62-year-old Kerry Frazier, who was last seen on Feb. 28, was discovered by campers in Union Township on Aug. 23, the outlet says. The cause and manner of his death were still being investigated. Passerby Spots Body In Schuylkill River: Report
A body was recovered from a section of the Schuylkill River in Berks County, WFMZ reports. Pennsylvania State Police and local rescue crews were first called to the scene in Union Township on Tuesday, Aug. 23, after a passerby spotted the unidentified body, the outlet says. It wasn't until around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 that responders were able to find the body entangled in some trees, according to the outlet. The body of a purported jumper was pulled from the Schuylkill River Monday, July 4, authorities said. Crews were called to the river near the area of Lock 60 in Upper Providence Township (Montgomery County) around 12:40 p.m., local police said. The body of a missing woman was pulled from the Schuylkill River on Monday, authorities said. Authorities have identified the body found along the banks of the Schuylkill River as that of 49-year-old Chad Blackston, of Hamburg. Blackston's lifeless body was discovered around 11 a.m. Sunday off Hill Drive in Tilden Township, according to WFMZ.
