PA Reformed Criminal Killed Riding Bicycle Without Helmet: Coroner
A reformed criminal who was riding a bicycle along a Northampton County road struck a vehicle and was killed on Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to authorities. He wasn't wearing a helmet at the time. Dwain S. Englert Sr., 58, of Allentown was riding a bicycle along Pembroke Road at the intersection of Livingston Street in Freemansburg Borough when he struck a vehicle, the Northampton County Coroner's Office said. Berks Case Still Cold: Who Killed Louisa Tseng Krenzel?
It's been more than 10 years since Lousia Tseng Krenzel was killed, and Pennsylvania State Police are still searching for answers. The 48-year-old Taiwan native was shoveling snow at her Long Lane home in rural Pike Township on Jan. 22, 2014, troopers said in a release on July 3. Observant Newspaper Carrier Saved Reader's Life In Berks County, Officials Say
The sharp eye and quick thinking of a newspaper carrier in Wyomissing saved one reader's life last month, according to borough authorities. Reading Eagle carrier Lee Heckrote was on his route on Dec. 8 and noticed that one customer had a backlog of uncollected letters and newspapers, said Wyomissing police. After looking inside and seeing that the TV was on, Heckrote called in a welfare check. Motorcyclist Dies After Allegedly Fleeing Police On PA Highway
A motorcyclist is dead after police say he fled from a traffic stop on Route 61 late on Tuesday, Aug. 8. It began on Route 61 in Ontelaunee Township around 10:15 p.m., Northern Berks Regional Police said. Officers noticed "several" motorcyclists riding fast in the southbound lane and tried to pull them over, but they allegedly fled. The bikers took off so quickly that police did not try to chase them, the department said. Berks Judge Dies; Flags Lowered Across PA
Berks County Court of Common Pleas Judge Paul M. Yatron has died, Gov. Tom Wolf announced on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Yatron, who had served in Berks since 2006 and was most recently elected in 2015, had previously worked in the county district attorney's office, the state attorney general's office, and the state auditor general's office, according to his obituary in the Reading Eagle. Gov. Wolf ordered all flags at the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg and at all state buildings in Berks County to fly at half-mast until Yatron's funeral, which has not yet been announced.

DNA Evidence Leads To Killer In 34-Year-Old Cold Case In Berks County
A now-deceased man has been identified as the suspect who killed a 26-year-old woman 34 years ago in Berks County, authorities said. With new advances in genetic genealogy, investigators were able to identify Scott Grim, who died of natural causes at the age of 58 in 2018, as the man who beat and strangled Anna Jean Kane to death and dumped her body alongside Ontelaunee Trail Road in Perry Township, Pennsylvania State Police said. Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Train In Berks County: Report
A person was struck and killed by a freight train early Tuesday, July 26 in Berks County, Reading Eagle reports. A train struck the female pedestrian around 1:15 a.m. at the Columbia Avenue crossing in Sinking Spring, and her body was discovered near the Woodrow Avenue crossing, the outlet says. Berks County Man, 92, Drowns After Reaching For Plank In Pond: Report
A Berks County man died in a drowning accident, the Reading Eagle reports. Donald Klopp, 92, was reaching for a plank when he fell into a pond behind Airport Road home in Bethel Township around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, the outlet says citing the Berks County Coroner's Office.
