A 60-year-old man "attempted to lure a child into a bathroom" at a Lancaster City park over the weekend, the police announced on Wednesday, June 26. Richard Gerth of Lancaster City was spotted leaving Long's Park by police officers called to investigate around 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, according to the release. CASE: Philly Woman Found Strangled Off I-81 In Schuylkill County
Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the murder of Caryn Fortino. Fortino, 38, was found dead in a wooded area off of Interstate 81 in Delano Township on May 23, 2003. She had been strangled, according to troopers. Authorities said Fortino was from the Philadelphia area and was last in contact with loved ones that February. A 2003 report from the Allentown Morning Call said her last known address was in Egg Harbor, New Jersey, but that she had moved back to Philly before her death. A 55-year-old woman wanted out of Maryland for felony theft and malicious property destruction was has been arrested in Pennsylvania. Quarryville, PA police got a tip on June 6 that Lisa Marie Phillips was on the 100 block of Groffdale Drive in Oak Bottom Village, the office said. She had been wanted by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office for felony theft of $7,705 and malicious destruction of property. One person has died after a crash involving a state police car early Friday morning, June 14. Troopers were driving south on Christopher Columbus Boulevard responding to a separate incident around 1:30 a.m., authorities said. At the intersection with Race Street, a northbound Mazda pickup truck "made an illegal left turn" into the path of the state police car, according to officials. Greencastle Police Chief Dies Less Than 1 Month After Promotion
Less than one month after he was sworn in Greencastle Police Department Chief, Keith Russell has died, according to a release by the department on Saturday, June 6. Chief Russell passed away from an "off duty medical death," according to the Greencastle PD. No additional information about his death was available at the time of publishing. A man who escaped the back of a Philadelphia police car on Monday, May 13 has been arrested, US Marshals said in a release. Nafiysh Knox-Schenck was taken into custody on the 600 block of West Girard Avenue around noon on Wednesday, May 15, authorities said.
