Northern Lights Dazzle PA Residents
Residents across the Northeast were dazzled by the Northern Lights, visible Thursday evening, Oct. 10. The purple and pink lights were visible due to a Solar Storm, or a Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun on Tuesday, Oct. 8 which arrived in the area Thursday. "I got a text from a friend about 30 minutes ago," said Joe Jenkins, of Poughkeepsie, NY, "so I ran out and looked due north. You couldn’t miss it." 43K Pounds Of Alcohol Spills Onto I-81 Near Mechanicsburg: PennDOT
An overturned tractor-trailer led to approximately 43,000 pounds of alcohol being spilled and traffic being diverted along Interstate 81, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told Daily Voice on Tuesday. The tractor-trailer overturned — spilling "43,00 pounds of various kinds of alcohol" — on I-81 south just before Exit 52: Middlesex, according to Schreffler.
