A Long Island boat crash sent two people to the hospital, and now the boat captain is facing felony charges after leaving the scene, authorities said.
Peter Mangiameli, 57, was piloting a 35-foot cruise boat around 10 p.m. Sunday, July 5, when it struck a jetty in Sag Harbor Bay, New York State Police said.
Eight people were on the boat at the time of impact, and two sustained serious injuries, according to state police. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that included a broken rib, leg fracture, and vertebrae fracture, authorities said.

Twenty-nine people are believed to have died as a result of last week's heatwave in New Jersey, the New York Times reports.
