NY Man Caught With Child Sexual Exploitation Images, Faces 11 Felony Counts, Police Say
A Dutchess County man faces 11 felony charges after police said he was caught with images depicting the sexual exploitation of children.
Beekman resident Anderson Merard, 35, was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 30, following an investigation, New York State Police announced on Friday, Oct. 2.
The investigation began in June 2025 after State Police received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, according to police. Investigators found that Merard possessed digital images consistent with child sexual exploitation material, the agency said.

Naked Man Accused Of 'Lewd Conduct' At State Park In Hudson Valley, Police Say
A man was arrested after police responding to a fight at a state park in Dutchess County found him naked and being physically restrained by another person, authorities said.
The incident happened at James Baird State Park in LaGrange on Thursday, Oct. 1, at around 2:50 p.m., New York State Police announced on Friday, Oct. 2.
When troopers arrived, they found an individual physically restraining a naked man later identified as Hyde Park resident Paul Roberts, 51, according to police.
Roberts had been seen engaging in lewd conduct before troopers arrived, police said.…

A two-year investigation into check fraud in the Hudson Valley has finally led to the arrest of a New York City man, police said Monday, Sept. 28.
Eric Balko, 36, of Jamaica, Queens, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 23, New York State Police said.
The case began Aug. 23, 2024, when an employee of Ulster Savings Bank reported the same individual cashed multiple checks at different bank branches, state troopers said. The scheme led to “substantial monetary loss,” police said.

Ten people have been charged in a cocaine trafficking operation that authorities say supplied drugs throughout Orange and Ulster counties, sometimes using terms such as “pizza,” “pies,” and “water” as code for narcotics.
