A Long Island school aide has been accused of falsifying payroll records claiming to work with a special needs student. Keenya Lessey, age 48, of Baldwin, allegedly submitted 19 falsified timesheets claiming to have worked with the fourth-grader with special needs in the Hempstead Union Free School District when she was not, and wrongfully collected more than $10,000 in pay, Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Cargo Truck Hits, Kills 44-Year-Old Man In Baldwin
A man died after being struck by a vehicle on Long Island. The incident happened in Baldwin, on Coes Neck Road, at around 6:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18. Nassau County Police said a cargo truck was driving near the intersection of Notre Dame Court when it swerved to avoid a car backing into the roadway and struck a 44-year-old man walking on the shoulder. The victim suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police medic, according to police. His identity had not been publicized as of Friday evening. Assault On Security Guard At Baldwin Bowling Alley Leads To Charges For Fourth Suspect
A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with an assault on a security guard at a Long Island bowling alley. The incident happened in Baldwin, at the Ultra Lanes on Grand Avenue, at around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, July 27. Nassau County Police said several customers became disruptive and were asked to leave when they began punching, kicking, and choking a security staffer. The incident happened in East Meadow, steps from Nassau University Medical Center on Hempstead Turnpike, at around 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19. Driver Killed After SUV Crashes Into House In Nassau County
A driver was killed after an SUV crashed into a house on Long Island overnight. It happened just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 in Baldwin. Nassau County Police said a 49-year-old man was driving a 2013 Hyundai Tucson eastbound on Grand Terrace Avenue when his vehicle left the roadway. The SUV struck a fence and then a home at 917 Grand Terrace Ave., causing exterior damage. Resident Dies After Blaze Breaks Out At Baldwin Home
One person died after a fire broke out at a Long Island home. Nassau County Police say detectives were conducting an investigation in Baldwin on Talmadge Drive when they saw smoke emanating from a residence at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 11. The detectives entered the home to search for any occupants until they were driven back by heavy smoke, heat, and flames.
