ID Released For 38-Year-Old Killed In I-87 Crash Involving Westchester Resident
State Police have identified the driver of a tractor-trailer killed in a crash on I-87 in Rockland County.
Victor M. Naula Lopez, age 38, of Whitestone, Queens, was killed around 5 a.m., Friday, March 12, on I-87 in Ramapo, said Trooper Tara McCormick.
During the crash, Lopez was operating a 2018 Peterbilt tractor-trailer northbound on I-87, in the middle lane when a 2021 Toyota sideswiped the tractor-trailer, causing it to spin out and strike a 2011 Freightliner Semi, driven by Celso A. Lopez, age 56, of New Rochelle.
Lopez was uninjured, McCormick said.

Trio Nabbed On Gun Charges In Rockland
Three Rockland County teens were arrested by New York State Police for alleged possession of weapons.
Treyvon A. Epps, Regine A. Durandisse, and Jimmy A. Palma, all age 19, and from Spring Valley, were arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 20, and charged with possession of a weapon, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
The three were caught at a home in Ramapo with the weapons, Nevel said.
All three were remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
Epps was held without bail. Durandisse and Palma were held in lieu of a $75,000 cash bail.

Suspect Nabbed In 2019 Murder At Area Restaurant
After an intensive 14-month manhunt, a 27-year-old man has been arrested by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force for the 2019 murder of another man at a restaurant in the area.
Jamaad Mikal Murphy, of Middletown, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 20, in Ramapo, for the Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, killing of Matthew Napoleoni, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel.
State Police say that at approximately 2:30 a.m., Murphy, shot and killed Napoleoni, age 23, also of Middletown, outside of the Made in Puerto Rico Latin Cuisine and Sports Bar on Schutt Road Extension in the town of Wallkill.

Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Area
Thousands in the area have lost power as a storm system has brought heavy rain and wind gusts topping 50 mph to the Hudson Valley.
As of 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, Central Hudson was reporting 18 active outages that were impacting 1,035 customers: 624 in Ulster County, 180 in Dutchess, 125 in Columbia County, and 106 in Greene County.
A total of 2,678 of NYSEG’s 901,052 customers, including 1,229 in Dutchess, 420 in Sullivan, and 362 in Ulster, are without power.
Orange & Rockland Utilities were reporting 13 outages that were impacting 2,234 of its 303,406 customers.
