Plastic bags will soon be a relic of the past at a prominent group of food stores. DeCicco & Sons Markets announced that it will be fully eliminating the single-use plastic bags in all seven of their stores within the next seven days. A new report from Safewise.com named nearly two dozen Hudson Valley municipalities among the 50 "safest cities" in New York. Based on the latest FBI report, the state boasts a property crime rate 40 percent less than the national average, the site said. A Fairfield County man who was a passenger on a Metro-North train in Westchester when a man was electrocuted after climbing on the roof of a train said the event was a "horrible" experience. A popular school administrator in Northern Westchester and youth sports coach in Fairfield County has died at age 53. Brian Davidson was assistant principal at Fox Lane Middle School in Bedford who worked in the Bedford Central School District for 20 years. He also served as a guidance counselor during that time. Davidson had been on leave for the past year, according to BCSD Superintendent of Schools Christopher Manno. He died on Thursday, Aug. 16. Starbucks Employee Rescued After Fall In Westchester
Firefighters had to use a unique rig to rescue a Starbucks employee who had fallen through an open grate in the floor and ended up in the basement. The incident took place Friday afternoon at the Starbucks on Palmer Avenue in Larchmont, said Larchmont Fire Chief John Caparelli.
