Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Hudson Valley A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.

Beloved Firefighter Dies After Over 25 Years Of Service In Hudson Valley A Hudson Valley fire department is mourning the loss of one of its active members who served his community for more than a quarter of a century.  The death of Robert "Link" Linkenhoker was announced by Putnam County's Brewster Fire Department on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Driver Injured In 2-Car Crash In Front Of Historic Hudson Valley Manor A two-car crash in front of a historic Northern Westchester manor-turned-museum caused injuries, firefighters said.  The incident happened in Croton-on-Hudson on Saturday, Sept. 7 at around 7:20 p.m., when two vehicles collided in front of Van Cortlandt Manor on South Riverside Avenue, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews dealt with a fluid spill from one of the cars while EMS treated a driver injured in the crash.  Both vehicles were later towed away, the department said. The cause of the crash was not released.

Car Goes Up In Flames On Busy Northern Westchester Roadway Smoke was seen on a busy main route in Northern Westchester when a vehicle went up in flames.  The incident happened on Saturday, May 11 around 1:40 p.m., when a car caught on fire on Route 9 southbound in Croton-on-Hudson just south of the pedestrian bridge.  According to the village's fire department, the blaze began in the vehicle's engine compartment and was quickly put out. Fully Engulfed Fire Destroys Home In Area An area home went up in flames overnight, officials said. Fire crews were dispatched to a home in Orange County on Old Cahoonzie Road in Sparrowbush shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, where there was a report of a two-alarm structure fire. Upon arrival, officials said that firefighters found the home fully engulfed. It took crews less than an hour to knock down the flames. The blaze forced a temporary closure of Old Cahoonzie Road in both directions. No injuries were initially reported.
