Cooper Whiteside, 38, of Danbury, and Brittany Islami, 34, of New Milford, died in the 2:45 a.m. Monday, July 13, crash on Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury, according to police.

Three drunk drivers crashed their vehicles in separate incidents Sunday night, July 12 in the Hamptons, police said.
All three incidents were single-car wrecks, and none of the drivers suffered serious injuries, according to the Southampton Town Police Department. All three were charged with DWI and violating traffic laws.

A man is accused of shooting his own dog with a shotgun, killing the animal in upstate New York, authorities announced.
Daniel J. Van Aken, 28, of Providence, was arrested on Wednesday, July 2, following an investigation into an animal cruelty complaint received by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, July 1, according to a media release issued Sunday, July 12.
Investigators said Van Aken shot his dog with a shotgun "with no justifiable purpose," causing the animal's death.
