Bizarre Pillowcase Fire In Long Island Hotel Leads To Woman’s Arrest: Police
A flaming pillowcase inside a Long Island hotel led to the arrest of a woman living there, according to police.
Crystal Alston, 54, was staying at The Inn at Jericho around 2:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, when she was seen on security video walking out of her hotel room with a pillowcase on fire, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Alston, whose address was listed as the hotel’s address, left the pillowcase in the hallway, then went back into her room, investigators said.

Fifth DWI Conviction For Suffolk Driver — But He Remains Free Until Sentencing, Authorities Say
A Long Island driver was convicted of his fifth DWI, but he’ll remain free until sentencing, authorities said Monday, Aug. 10.
Pablo Aguilar Alvarez, 36, was found guilty Friday, Aug. 7, and prosecutors believe he might flee before sentencing on Oct. 2, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
“And even now, despite the jury’s verdict, there is nothing to stop him from once again getting behind the wheel and endangering the lives of Suffolk County residents,” District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

2 Men Identified After Horrific Boating Deaths On Lake In New York: State Police
The two men killed in a terrifying boating accident on a New York lake were identified Monday, Aug. 10, by New York State Police.
Larry Barton, 78, of Dolgeville, and Lynn Richards, 65, of Little Falls, were killed in the incident on Kyser Lake in the town of Manheim, Herkimer County, around 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, according to State Police.
Two pontoon boats were loosely tied together when Barton entered the water and began experiencing a medical emergency, the preliminary investigation found.
