‘Reverend CEO’ Crypto Scheme Backers To Pay Nearly $6M — Including Three NY Men, AG Says
A group of accused crypto scammers, including two from Long Island, who boosted a self-proclaimed “Reverend CEO” will cough up nearly $6 million as part of a settlement with state authorities, officials said.
Frantz Ciceron, of Farmingdale, owes $2.05 million and James Corbett, of Mastic Beach, owes $750,000, the New York Attorney General’s office announced Thursday, Oct. 22.
Ciceron and Corbett were part of the NovaTech FX scheme, which preyed on Haitian communities and religious groups in New York City and across the country, according to investigators.

A New York man raped a child under 11 in the Capital Region, police said Friday, Oct. 23.
Michael A. Calhoun, 55, of Gloversville, was arrested Monday, Oct. 12, New York State Police said.
Investigators determined Calhoun had sexual contact with a child while in the small town of Galway in Saratoga County, authorities said. Police had been looking into Calhoun’s activities since Jan. 19, 2026, according to state troopers.

A Connecticut man traveling through New York was arrested with an illegal handgun, police announced Friday, Oct. 23.
Jace C. Darby, 25, of Hamden, was traveling on the I-87 Northway through Malta, NY, around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 when state troopers pulled him over, New York State Police said.
As troopers investigated Darby, they located an illegally possessed loaded handgun inside his vehicle, authorities said. He was then arrested at the scene.

Cody A. Ashline, 32, of Cohoes, was charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child, New York State Police said.

A would-be arsonist tried to start a fire inside a Long Island synagogue, but his efforts failed and he ended up burning a bush, police said.
Azzm Khan, 29, of Lakeview, was arrested following the incident outside Young Israel of West Hempstead late Wednesday night, Oct. 21, the Nassau County Police Department said.

A Capital Region man pulled a gun on another driver during a road rage dispute on Interstate 787, state police said.
Matthew R. Kuznia, 33, of Gansevoort, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 18, following the incident in Watervliet, New York State Police said.
Troopers responded around 1:15 a.m. Sunday after the report of a road rage incident in Watervliet and determined Kuznia pointed the weapon at another person while driving northbound on I-787, authorities said.

Gunman Who Shot Up Car After Albany Bar Fight Takes Plea Deal, Officials Say
An Albany man who opened fire on a car after a bar dispute has taken a plea deal in the case, authorities said.
Lateek Williams, 26, pleaded guilty to second-degree weapons possession, the Albany County District Attorney’s office announced Thursday, Oct. 22.
Williams is expected to get eight years in prison at his sentencing hearing on Dec. 15, prosecutors said. He was previously facing a second-degree attempted murder charge, which was dropped, according to online court records.
