An accused child rapist in the region is back behind bars after he allegedly fled the state to avoid prosecution. Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies took custody of 36-year-old Siatar Creech, of Northumberland, on Tuesday, June 11, weeks after he was arrested by the US Marshals Service in South Carolina. Police are hoping that a cash reward will lead to a person of interest being sought in connection with a woman’s death in the region. Emergency crews in Schenectady were called shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday, May 28, with reports of a woman in need of medical attention at a home on Pleasant Street. A nearly month-long investigation into drug trafficking along Albany’s Central Avenue corridor has resulted in 18 arrests. A 62-year-old former attorney in Fairfield County is going to spend more than six years behind bars for stealing nearly $2 million from clients, friends and family members. Thomas Murtha who previously had a law office in Bridgeport has been sentenced to 78 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to one count of wire fraud.
