Woman From Region Charged With Setting Fire To Apartment, Police Say
A woman from the region is being held without bail after allegedly setting fire to an apartment using an accelerant. The incident occurred in Sullivan County around 5:20 p.m., on Tuesday, July 16 at the Libery Common Apartment Complex in village of Liberty. According to Liberty Police Chief Steve D'Agata, when officers arrived they found billowing smoke coming out of the residence. Hudson Valley Man Dies From Severe Burns After Battling Barn Fire
A 47-year-old Hudson Valley man died from severe burns after battling a barn fire. The incident occurred in Orange County around 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, in Pine Island on Amity Road. According to Warwick Police Chief John Rader, police officers, the Pine Island Fire Department, and EMS responded to a report of a structure fire. An over 120-year-old former convent in Northern Westchester that has since been converted to an inn was damaged by a lightning strike and resulting fire. Mail Truck Bursts Into Flames In Residential Hudson Valley Neighborhood
A residential road in the Hudson Valley was temporarily closed after a mail truck caught on fire. The incident happened in Putnam County on Friday, June 7 just before 4 p.m., when a US Postal Service delivery truck went up in flames on Fairmont Road in Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. The roadway was closed for about a half hour as crews worked to extinguish the blaze. No injuries resulted from the fire, the department said. Firefighters did not detail the cause of the blaze.
