Ramapo Police Warn Residents Of New Lottery Scam RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Authorities on Wednesday warned town residents to be on the look out for scammers reportedly using the lottery as a basis for their ruse.According to police, a Ramapo woman recently reported that she answered a telephone call and was told she had won a nearly $1 million lottery jackpot. The caller then continued to tell the woman that if she wanted to claim the money, she would have to mail $6,000 to an address in Florida, according to police. Darien Resident Reports $5K In Jewelry Stolen During Party DARIEN, Conn. – Police are investigating a reported theft of jewelry valued at more than $5,000 from a Blueberry Lane home. The theft appears to have taken place March 24 when a resident of the home threw a party attended by at least 60 people, according to Darien police. The theft was reported about 10 p.m. March 25, when the homeowner returned to the house, police said. Two necklaces – one valued at $5,000 and another valued at $150 – were reported stolen from a bedroom, police said.
