According to New York State Police, Aaron H. LaVelle was seen by officers driving a 2007 Hyundai Sonata South on Grand Avenue with its rear passenger side door ajar. The officer activated the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and sirens and the driver continued to travel on South Grand Avenue without stopping. He eventually came to a stop at the intersection of State Route 376 and Zack’s Way where he was taken into custody without further incident.
Following an investigation, LaVelle was found to be impaired by drugs at the time of the stop, according to New York State Police.
LaVelle was arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, or $5,000 bond. He is due to appear in Town of Poughkeepsie Court at a later date.
