Aquel Scott, 17, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested Friday when members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Neighborhood Recovery Unit, along with the Emergency Services Unit and the New York State Police served the warrant following an investigation into drug sales in the area, said City of Poughkeepsie Sgt. Terrence Beam.
The search was the result of an investigation into illegal drugs sales conducted by the department, state police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Beam said.
During the search, officers recovered more than 11.7 grams of cocaine, a loaded defaced .32 caliber gun, more than $1,000 in cash and numerous items used in the distribution of drugs, he added.
Scott was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, among other charges.
He is being held pending arraignment.
