Bannerman Island is offering walking tours of the Bannerman residence for the first time. Tours depart from Beacon via kayak or passenger boat and from Cold Spring via kayak.

The island has been open to the public since 2004. To gain access to the residence, new floors were put in and a grant from Hudson Valley Greenway Conservatory allowed for interpretive signage.
"It means a lot to us," Neil Caplan, executive director of the Bannerman Castle Trust said. "It's very exciting and we're very exciting."
Caplan said they are expecting to have 9,000 tourists this year. Events include performances of "Whiskey Woman" and the radio performance of "War Of The Worlds."
