A former New York soccer star and the wife of a college football coach died suddenly at age 30 while pregnant with her first child.
Kayla Saager-Beckley, the wife of Tulsa football assistant coach John Beckley, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, according to an announcement from her alma mater, Binghamton University.

Suffolk Child Rapist Arrested, Had ‘Direct Access’ To 6-Year-Old Victim: Authorities
A Long Island man raped a 6-year-old girl who was trusted to his care, authorities said Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Nixon Marquez Mestanza, 22, of Wyandanch, was indicted for first-degree rape and related crimes, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Marquez Mestanza “had direct childcare access to the victim and used the opportunity to sexually abuse the child on several occasions in July and August 2026,” the DA’s office said in a press release.

The Pennsylvania county where a gunman shot President Donald Trump during a 2024 campaign rally is now at the center of another high-profile federal threat case.
The FBI says it first investigated Jonathan Hunter Kramer in 2023, when he was a minor, before arresting the Butler County man Saturday, Sept. 12, over an alleged ISIS-inspired attack plan.
Kramer, 20, of Valencia, was taken into custody after agents found a semiautomatic rifle, ammunition, loaded magazines, pepper spray, a scope, and other gear at a Cranberry Township hotel, according to a criminal complaint.

A sprawling New York car theft and resale scheme that netted $5.5 million and shafted more than 120 car owners has been wrapped up with guilty pleas, authorities said Monday, Sept. 14.
Ringleaders Mark McCall, 34, and Keith Agard, 32, admitted their roles in running the vast operation across Nassau, Suffolk, Kings, Westchester, and Orange counties, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Of the 33 individuals and two corporations named in the initial June 2025 indictment, 34 have pleaded guilty, prosecutors said. Only one case remains pending.
