ID Released For 20-Year-Old Killed In Route 17 Crash New York State Police have identified the person killed in a single-vehicle crash on Route 17 on Wednesday. Devon Persaud, 20, of Queens Village, died around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 on Route 17 near Exit 129 in Blooming Grove, said New York State Trooper Steve Nevel. Troopers found Persaud's 2007 Dodge Caliber down an embankment, state police said. There were no passengers in the vehicle.  The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The incident, which took place around 12:34 p.m. Tuesday, closed the roadway near Exit 124 in Goshen for a short time as officers worked to talk the "young" woman down, said state police. The woman was removed safely from the overpass.

Man, 33, Killed In Route 17 Two-Car Crash A 33-year-old man was killed during a two-vehicle crash on Route 17 on Tuesday evening. The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. in the town of Thompson, said New York State Trooper Steve Nevel. An investigation into the crash indicates that a 2015 Toyota driven by Patrick Collins, 50, of Stroudsburg, Pa., was traveling east on Route 17 when the vehicle struck a 2002 Honda traveling west, Nevel said. The driver of the Honda, Luiz Diaz, of Monticello, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Cynthia Acevedo, 27, also of Monticello, was flown to Westchester Medical Center with injuries. …

The incident took place around noon Thursday on Route 17 in Monticello, causing the driver to flip the trailer on its side, said New York State Trooper Steve Nevel. One lane was blocked for more than an hour. No one was injured in the crash. Motorists should expect some slowdowns as the debris is cleaned up.
