Individuals from four Hudson Valley counties were among 118 people from southern New York arrested for violating U.S. immigration laws during a five-day crackdown in mid-January by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The detail, called "Operation Cross Check," was conducted in New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley from Jan. 14-18. Six Busted By ICE In Cell Phone Fraud Scheme With Hub In Westchester
Six people were arrested Friday in a Westchester hub of a massive $1 million cell phone fraud scheme uncovered by an ICE task force. The six are part of 12 people busted by ICE and Homeland Security, following a long-term investigation into the scheme that operated a hub out of a Mount Vernon apartment, according to ICE officials. Dominican National Charged With Rape Of Fellow Camp Counselor In Hudson Valley
An investigation into a rape incident at a Hudson Valley summer camp has led to a felony charge for a Dominican national. State Police troopers were called to the Berkshire Hills Eisenberg Camp on Empire Road in Copake in Columbia County at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, July 23, where there was a report of a sexual assault. Police said that the investigation into the incident determined that 24-year-old Dominican Republic resident Saury Minaya, who was a counselor there, allegedly raped his victim, who was also a camp counselor.
