The division is the sole dispatch center for the following:

  • Rockland County's 26 member volunteer fire departments.
  • Hazardous materials team.
  • Regional technical rescue team.
  • Fire, police and fire safety officers.

The center manages emergency fire response with 13 conventional radio frequencies and six trunked talk groups. Volunteer firefighters are notified to respond by personal pagers, email and text messaging via SMS, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office.

The Communications Division is the dispatch center for emergency medical services in Haverstraw and Piermont.

All radio operators are certified emergency medical dispatchers.

The Emergency Medical Dispatch program allows radio operators to deliver emergency first-aid instructions to callers reporting medical emergencies, such as CPR, emergency childbirth, bleeding control and more.

The EMD program is supervised by certified quality-assurance personnel and a board-certified physician, who review call taker performance for safety and quality.

Radio operators are scored on accuracy of work and on customer service.
