Lecture Highlights Rockland County Irish

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Historical Society of Rockland County welcomes the public to "The Irish of Rockland County," a lecture by George Leahy on Thursday, May 19 at the society's center in New City.

Leahy's roots in Rockland County go back to the mid-1800s, when his Irish ancestors settled in Haverstraw. 

Now retired, Leahy taught history at Nanuet High School for 30, and most recently was an adjunct professor of history at St. Thomas Aquinas College. 

The program focuses on the arrival and impact of the Irish on the political, social, and economic history of Rockland.

The lecture will begin at 7:15 p.m. sharp. Visitors are asked to arrive early. The HSRC is located at 20 Zukor Road, New City.
