Burger King, located at 164 South Main Street, recently closed its doors, leaving residents no place to get their Whoppers and chicken fries.
"This is very sad for me to stomach," Clarkstown native Pete Bradley said on his Facebook page. "I, like many others in Clarkstown have built memories in that restaurant on Main Street in New City. My mother used to take me and my brother, Vincent there frequently in the seventies. Back then, it was called 'Carrol's' restaurant. It was a mecca of quality fast food."
Bradley said on Friday afternoons he would have lunch at Burger King with his five-year-old son Brooks.
"As soon as I pick up Brooks from 'Prime Time' preschool, his first question is "can we go to Burger King?," Bradley said. "I can never say no because eating lunch with him brings up happy memories of my mother and brother who have since passed away. I'm still going to have to figure out how to tell Brooks that we won't be able to go to Burger King tomorrow."
