The notice filed with the state Department of Labor on March 2, said 99 employees will be affected by the layoff for economic reasons.
The division, located at 80 Red School House Road, is part of the company's long-term care distribution and operates under the company's Omnicare affiliate, said Gary Serby, director of corporate communications for CVS.
CVS Health will be consolidating work currently conducted at the Omnicare long-term care distribution facility in Chesnut Ridge to distribution facilities located in Plainview and Ballston Spa, as well as Whippany, N.J., Serby said.
"Approximately 99 employees will be affected by this closure, which is expected to take place on May 31," Serby said. "We made this difficult but necessary decision in order to better integrate and manage Omnicare’s long- term care distribution services to help better meet the needs of our long-term care clients."
The affected employees, who were notified last week, will be eligible to receive severance benefits, including outplacement services. The employees can also apply for open CVS Health positions in the area, he added.
The notice to the Department of Labor, which is required under state law, said the workers are not represented by a union.
