Man Accused Of Beating Woman, Taking Police On Pursuit In Hudson Valley
A man has been charged in connection with the alleged violent beating of a woman and then taking deputies on a pursuit in the Hudson Valley.
Ulster County resident, Matthew A. Dequarto, age 23, of Rosendale, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 16, for the Monday, Tuesday, Feb. 13 assault, said Lt. Joseph Sciutto of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.
On Feb. 13, deputies responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a woman screaming for help on Springtown Road in the town of Rosendale.

Two people are facing felony charges after a Hudson Valley traffic stop led to the discovery of about 250 bags of fentanyl and heroin, authorities reported.
Authorities saw a vehicle commit a traffic violation on Sawkill-Ruby Road in the Town of Ulster on Thursday, Sept. 8, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Melissa Neglia, of Saugerties, was found to be driving the vehicle with a revoked license, authorities said.

An area man has been charged with engaging in "periodic unlawful sexual conduct" with a minor.
Douglas R. Whitaker, age 68, of the Town of Ulster, was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 19, and charged with sexual abuse-related charges.
According to Lt. Joseph Sciutto, of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, deputies began investigating Whitaker after receiving a report on Monday, Oct. 18, alleging he engaged in periodic unlawful sexual conduct with a juvenile victim since the spring of 2020 when the victim was under 17 years old.

Man With Suspended License Nabbed With Drugs, State Police Say
A 44-year-old man was arrested on numerous drug and traffic charges after being stopped by state police.
Ulster County resident Eric Tischler, of the Town of Ulster, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 16, after being stopped in his 2003 Audi A4 by state police for a traffic violation, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
During the stop, the trooper found that Tischler was driving on a suspended license and that he was allegedly in possession of numerous drugs, including cocaine, Alprazolam, and Lorazepam, and concentrated cannabis contained in a vaporizer cartridge.

Driver In Fatal Area Crash Caught Trying To Escape Out Of State, Police Say
An area resident who was charged with vehicular manslaughter after crashing into a utility pole and killing his passenger was arrested, then caught planning an escape to another state, said police.
Ulster County resident Daniel Kellogg, of Saugerties, 22, reportedly crashed his 2000 Honda Accord into a utility pole on Route 9W in the area of the Sunoco at nearly 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22.
