Charles “Charlie” A. Cato, age 45, of New Windsor, died on Friday, Dec. 6, in Highlands after his car left the roadway and struck a tree in the median, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

West Point Cadet Dies In Drowning Accident
A West Point cadet died while on leave in what police say was an accidental incident.
Havin Morris, age 21, of Pleasanton, California, a student at West Point in Orange County in the town of Highlands, drowned on Monday, March 25, while on leave in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
“Cadet Morris was a valued member of the Corps of Cadets, committed to serving his country as an Army Officer," said West Point Superintendent Lt. Gen. Steve Gilland. "The entire West Point community offers our heartfelt condolences to the Morris family."

One Killed In Palisades Parkway Crash
A Hudson Valley man was killed during a two-car head-on crash on the Palisades Parkway.
The crash took place in Orange County in the town of Highlands around 4:45 a.m., Thursday, June 16.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 1998 Toyota Corolla, driven by Hugo Vasquez, age 67 from Spring Valley was traveling southbound in the northbound lane when he struck a 2006 Toyota TC head-on, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Vasquez was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Nevel said.

Hundreds in Rockland and Orange County remain without power nearly a week after Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc on the East Coast.
As of 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, crews from Rockland & Orange Utilities was still responding to 417 reported outages, which were impacting 1,345 of their New York customers.

As of Friday, May 1, there have been 9,038 confirmed cases, up 127 from the day before.
There were nine new reported deaths, as the total climbed to 329 since the outbreak began in early March.
