Alert Issued For Missing 16-Year-Old Who Frequents Peekskill, Cortlandt Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 16-year-old girl known to frequent an area in Northern Westchester. An alert for Daisyana Suscal, who was reported missing by her family, was issued by the New York State Police on Tuesday, Sept. 17 around 2:30 p.m.  According to police, Suscal, who is 5-foot-2 and 120 pounds, often visits the area of Cortlandt and Peekskill.  She has dark eyes and hair with red highlights, authorities said.  Anyone with any information as to Suscal's whereabouts is asked to call 914-769-2600 and refer to …

SUV Goes Up In Flames On I-287 In Purchase A lane of a busy interstate in Westchester was temporarily blocked after flames engulfed a vehicle.  The blaze happened on Interstate 287 West in Purchase on Tuesday, Sept. 17 around 5:30 a.m., when an SUV caught on fire, according to the Purchase Fire Department.  Arriving crews found the vehicle in the right lane at mile marker 7.5 and soon put the fire out.  No injuries were reported and the vehicle was later towed from the area.

Low-Flying Helicopters May Appear Over Pocantico Hills: Here's Why If you look up in the sky in Northern Westchester and see low-flying helicopters, don't be alarmed—it's part of regularly scheduled inspections, police announced.  According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, residents in the hamlet of Pocantico Hills may see helicopters flying closer to the ground than usual as part of Con Edison inspections on Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The utility company will be performing high-tension line inspections during this time, the department said.

Malfunction Sets Off Lockdown Alarm At Horace Greeley High School In Chappaqua A lockdown alarm went off at a Northern Westchester high school as the result of a malfunction, police announced.  The incident happened on Monday, Sept. 16, when a lockdown alarm went off at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, New Castle Police said around 11:45 a.m.  After officers investigated the incident, they eventually determined that it was an unknown alarm malfunction.  The department is now continuing the investigation to determine the circumstances of what triggered the alarm, police added.  This is a developing story.
