Police responded to the store at 250 Route 59, after receiving a report that two men had taken a large television off the wall in the electronics department and carried it to the front of the store and tried to act as if they had purchased the unit and wanted to return it, said Det. Lt. Mark Emma.
The men, Howard Burris, 20, of Sloatsburg, and Branden D'Agostino, 20, of Prospect, N.J., then changed their mind and decided to try and walk out of the store with the TV, when they were met by the responding police officer, Emma said.
Both men were charged with petit larceny and criminal mischief. Burris also had a larceny warrant out of Wyoming County, Pa. He was transported to the Rockland County Jail to await processing.
