Canines 'Thelma & Louise' Abandoned At Long Island Park; $5K Reward Offered For Information
Authorities are hoping that a cash reward will lead to an arrest after two small dogs were abandoned at a Long Island park. The mixed breed dogs, since named Thelma and Louise, were discovered at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park on Tuesday, March 5, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Someone driving a tan or gold SUV was seen pushing the animals out of their car, releasing them into the park, and then fleeing. Human Remains Found At Sunken Meadow State Park In Smithtown
Police are investigating after human remains were found on a Long Island roadway. The incident happened just before 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30 at Sunken Meadow State Park in the town of Smithtown, Suffolk County. Further info is pending examination by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office and further investigation by the state police. This is an active investigation and the State Police is asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to call 631-756-3300.

Three Men Rescued From Raft On Long Island Sound
Police officers came to the rescue of a group of boaters who were fighting a losing battle against the current while rafting on the Long Island Sound. Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers on patrol at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2 found three men in an eight-foot raft in the water more than a mile off Sunken Meadow State Park, where they had launched from. According to police, the men, all Brentwood residents, had been rowing against southwest winds and currents for two hours while being pushed farther away from shore. Three Stranded In Raft On Long Island Sound Rescued
Three men who became stranded in a six-foot inflatable raft in the Long Island Sound have been rescued. Suffolk County Police were notified by the Coast Guard at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 of an inflatable raft with three male occupants that were unable to make it back to shore. The three were fishing in the Long Island Sound, near Crane Neck Road in Setauket, when they were pulled approximately two miles offshore, Suffolk County Police said.
