Beloved Teacher, Former HS/College Star Athlete From Northern Westchester Dies At Age 50
A beloved teacher who was a standout athlete in high school in Northern Westchester and in college has died after a battle with cancer. Amy Mittelstadt Traudt, who died on Friday, June 11, was 50 years old. "She was surrounded by loved ones who will honor her legacy by continuing to live their lives to the fullest," according to her obituary. She was born in Mount Vernon on Sept 3, 1970, and lived most of her life in Pleasantville, graduating from Pleasantville High School. 19: Here's When Some Youth Sports Can Start Up Again In New York
A date has been set for six youth sports to start up again in regions of New York in Phase 3 of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic reopening process. Those sports, characterized as "low risk," can start up again on Monday, July 6. They are: Baseball Softball Field Hockey Crew Cross Country Gymnastics Gov. Traffic Advisory Issued For Funeral Of Shoreham Wading River HS Athlete Killed In Crash
The Suffolk County Police Department is expecting a huge turnout for the wake and funeral of Shoreham-Wading River High School senior student-athlete, prompting it to issue a traffic alert. Melissa Marchese, 18, of Shoreham, was a passenger involved in a two-car crash on Route 25A on Thursday, June 20. Marchese was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
