Man Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Car On Long Island A pedestrian was seriously injured in an overnight Long Island crash. It happened on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 10:40 p.m. in Elmont. While attempting to cross Meacham Avenue at E Street, a 66-year-old man was struck by 2007 Mazda that was being driven by a 59-year-old man, Nassau County Police said. The driver, who called 911, remained at the scene.  As a result of the collision, the pedestrian suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
