Sobriety Checkpoint: 7 Charged During Overnight Detail In Patchogue
Seven people are facing charges after an overnight sobriety checkpoint at the start of the Memorial Day weekend on Long Island.
Authorities conducted the operation in Patchogue at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and North Service Road from around 11:10 p.m. Friday, May 26, until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27.
A total of 523 vehicles went through the checkpoint, Suffolk Couty Police said.

Five convicted thieves are serving time after admitting to their roles in a string of thefts at Ulta Beauty stores on Long Island.
The thefts occurred between November 2021 and May 2022 at Ulta Beauty stores in East Farmingdale, Commack, and Patchogue, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Woman Struck, Killed In Early-Morning Long Island Crash: Police
A 73-year-old Long Island resident was killed after being hit by a car while walking through a parking lot, police said.
The driver, Alyssa Grudzinski, age 30, of Patchogue, was driving her SUV through the parking lot of Heatherwood House at Patchogue (located at 99 Waverly Avenue) on the morning of Tuesday, April 18, according to Suffolk County Police.
At around 6:50 a.m., Grudzinski’s 2010 Kia Sportage allegedly struck fellow Patchogue resident Ida Papik.
Papik was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Found: Woman Went Missing After Leaving Bar On Long Island
Update:
A Long Island woman who disappeared after leaving a local bar has been found.
Heather Robinson, age 36, of Miller Place, was last seen at around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, according to Suffolk County Police.
Detectives said Robinson got into the car of an acquaintance after leaving a Patchogue bar, located on Route 112, and never made it home.
Late Saturday night, April 15, police reported that Robinson "has been located and is unharmed."
