Wannabe Bank Robber Leaves Long Island Branch Empty Handed Police are seeking tips following an attempted bank robbery on Long Island. The incident happened Wednesday, July 5, in North Babylon, at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union on Deer Park Avenue. A man walked into the branch at around 9:30 a.m. and passed the teller a note demanding cash, according to Suffolk County Police. He then fled the bank on foot without any money. Police did not say why the robbery was unsuccessful. The suspect is described as Black, around 5-feet-8-inches tall. Emergency crews were called at around 3:45 p.m. Friday, June 9, to a home in North Babylon, located on Mohawk Drive near Deer Park Avenue. When officers arrived, they found one person dead in the home’s backyard, according to police radio traffic. The agency was sending a crime scene unit to the home to investigate.
