Man Injures Cop In Baldwin After Breaking Restraining Order
A New Jersey man is facing charges including assault and more after he allegedly broke a restraining order and later injured a police officer during his arrest. The Baldwin incident occurred on Saturday, July 13, according to Nassau County Police. At about 4:30 p.m. on that day, 36-year-old Horace Rattigan was allegedly in a verbal argument with a woman at Coes Neck Park, located at 1240 Coes Neck Road. The break-ins happened overnight, in the early hours of Thursday, July 18, in Carle Place. Two men are accused of robbing an employee at a Macy’s store on Long Island. Nassau County Police were called to the Macy’s store in Manhasset, located at 1100 Northern Boulevard, for a robbery at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16. A loss prevention employee told officers that two men stole items before fleeing in a black Kia. On their way out, one of the men was involved in a physical altercation with the worker. Police are searching for a man who tricked a Long Island woman out of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and cash after using a good deed to gain her trust. It happened in Roosevelt on Tuesday, July 9, according to Nassau County Police. At around 3 p.m. that day, a 76-year-old woman was walking on Nassau Avenue near the intersection of Debevoise Avenue with her groceries. Man Dives Off Boat, Injures Neck In Wantagh: Police
A man was airlifted to a nearby hospital with injuries after he dove off the front of his boat in a Long Island bay. It happened in Wantagh on Sunday, July 7, Nassau County Police said. That day, a 47-year-old man was on his boat in Zach’s Bay. At about 4:20 p.m., he dove off the front of the boat into the shallow water and hit his head, injuring his neck. He was found by the Nassau County Marine Bureau and transported to the Jones Beach Theater, where he was then airlifted to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. A 33-year-old Long Island man was charged with arson after giving a firework to an 11-year-old to ignite, which then burned a shed and two homes. A young boy has died after drowning at a Long Island home on Independence Day. Officers responded to a residence in East Meadow on 2nd Avenue just before 4 p.m. Thursday, July 4, after a report of a 7-year-old boy who was not breathing from an apparent drowning accident in a swimming pool, Nassau County Police said. Teen In Critical Condition Following Long Island Crash
A 17-year-old was airlifted to a nearby hospital after a freeway crash, police said. It happened in Plainview on Tuesday, July 2. According to Nassau County Police, the teen boy was driving north on Route 135 in a 1998 Toyota Corolla. Just before 4:15 p.m., he collided with a 26-year-old woman, also driving north, in a 2013 Range Rover. He was taken via helicopter to a local hospital for treatment, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The other driver remained at the scene and no other injuries were reported. Man Nabbed For $85K Roofing Scam On Long Island: Police
A New Jersey man was arrested on charges including grand larceny after he allegedly scammed a Long Islander into giving him money to fix her home’s roof. Danny Burton, age 26, was arrested on Monday, July 1 for the North New Hyde Park scheme, Nassau County Police said. Starting on Wednesday, June 26, Burton allegedly approached a 74-year-old woman at her North Fourth Street home. Concrete Wall Collapses, Kills 1 On Long Island, Police Say
One man was killed and another was injured after a concrete wall collapsed during a home demolition. It happened in Manorhaven on Monday, July 1, according to Nassau County Police. At approximately 11:45 a.m., two men were working on demolition for a Kirkwood Road home when a concrete wall collapsed on them. One of the men, age 56, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. The second man, age 20, went into cardiac arrest while en route to the hospital. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
