Driver Killed After SUV Crashes Into House In Nassau County A driver was killed after an SUV crashed into a house on Long Island overnight. It happened just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15 in Baldwin. Nassau County Police said a 49-year-old man was driving a 2013 Hyundai Tucson eastbound on Grand Terrace Avenue when his vehicle left the roadway.  The SUV struck a fence and then a home at 917 Grand Terrace Ave., causing exterior damage. Edwin Palacios Umana, age 14, was last seen at his Lakeview residence on Wadleigh Avenue at around 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5. Umana is 5-foot-3 and 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Suspect Nabbed In 7-Eleven Robbery On Long Island A suspect was arrested in connection with a robbery at a Long Island 7-Eleven store. The incident happened in Oceanside, at the 7-Eleven on Atlantic Avenue, at around 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. Nassau County Police said a man entered the store and began removing around 20 cigarette boxes from behind the counter. He threatened an employee before leaving without paying. A short time later, officers arrested 33-year-old Anthony Candelaria, of Oceanside, on suspicion of third-degree robbery. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
