Advisories Against Bathing At 13 Nassau County Beaches Lifted Heavy rainfall led health officials to issue an advisory to close 13 beaches in Nassau County. The advisory was issued Tuesday, Aug. 20  as a precautionary measure for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rainfall, said the Nassau County Department of Health.  The advisory was lifted Wednesday morning at 7 a.m.,  confirmed a department spokesperson. Stormwater runoff can impact bathing water quality by elevating bacteria levels, which may cause exceedances of the New York State standard for bathing water quality, the advisory said.
