The westbound parkway will be closed weeknights between Exit 27 (Wantagh State Parkway) and Exit 22 (Meadowbrook State Parkway) in Hempstead beginning Monday, Sept. 26, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.

The closures will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to facilitate a pavement resurfacing project.

Officials said one westbound lane will also be subject to closure beginning at 9 p.m.

"Motorists should follow a posted detour onto southbound Wantagh Parkway, to westbound State Route 27 (Sunrise Highway), to northbound Meadowbrook Parkway for access to westbound Southern State Parkway," state officials said.
