NY Detective Dies Suddenly At 35 — Was Dedicated K9 Handler
An Orange County police department is mourning the unexpected death of a longtime detective who served as a K9 handler, firearms instructor, tactical team leader, and investigator.
Town of Newburgh Police Detective Christopher Michael Thompson died surrounded by his family on Saturday, Aug. 8, according to his obituary. He was 35.
The Town of Newburgh Police Department announced Thompson's death the next day, calling his loss "untimely."
Thompson, born in Middletown on May 6, 1991, was a longtime area resident who formerly lived in Minisink, according to his obituary.
