Lt. Daniel Schoales of the Stony Point Police said Mahamadou Sissoko, of the Bronx, was charged on Thursday, Jan. 8, for the crimes committed on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, in Tompkins Cove. Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Hudson Valley A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.

The Saratoga County wreck happened at around 10:20 a.m. Friday, May 17, in Clifton Park. Sheriff’s officials said emergency crews were called about a single-vehicle crash and subsequent car fire that occurred on North Parkwood Drive near State Route 9. The female driver and sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. No other cars were involved and nobody else was injured. Car Goes Up In Flames On Busy Northern Westchester Roadway Smoke was seen on a busy main route in Northern Westchester when a vehicle went up in flames.  The incident happened on Saturday, May 11 around 1:40 p.m., when a car caught on fire on Route 9 southbound in Croton-on-Hudson just south of the pedestrian bridge.  According to the village's fire department, the blaze began in the vehicle's engine compartment and was quickly put out. The car was removed from the road after around an hour. No injuries were reported.

Emergency crews in Greene County were called shortly after midnight on Monday, Dec. 12, with reports of a crash in Coxsackie at the Essendant Distribution Center, located on State Route 9W, according to State Police. It happened around 9:45 a.m. Sunday, July 17 on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh. Responders were dispatched to mile marker 5.6 northbound for a report of a crash with a vehicle engulfed in flames.  Greenburgh Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived prior to state troopers but were unable to extricate the victim, Paul A. The man was driving a 1986 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Route 9G approaching the Rokeby Road intersection when he was hit by an Irvington woman driving a 2011 Toyota passenger car who failed to yield the right of way, according to the Red Hook Police.
