The incident began in Orange County in Newburgh around 1:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8 on Benkard Avenue. The shooting death was discovered while the city of Newburgh officers were responding to a report of shots fired in the area of 32 Benkard Ave., said the Newburgh Police Department. One Injured In Shots-Fired Incident In Area, Police Say One person was injured during a shots-fired incident in the area. It happened in Orange County around 1:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23 in Newburgh, on Liberty Street. According to Newburgh Police, officers responded to the area of 79 Liberty St. for a Shotspotter report of five shots fired. Less than a minute later the department received another report of rounds fired on Washington Street, police said. Officers located nine expended shell casings in the area of 77 Liberty St. A 28-year-old Newburgh man was shot in the ankle and sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said.…

Man Nabbed With Illegal Handgun After Fleeing From Cops In Area, Police Say A man was nabbed with an alleged illegal handgun after fleeing from police in the area. Peter Telesco, age 23, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested around 3 p.m., on Tuesday, April 20, in Orange County after the City of Newburgh Police received a call for a man in a grey hoodie with a firearm in the area of South and Liberty streets, said Lieutenant Brandon Rola.
