Retired Police K9 Named For 9/11 Hero Mourned In NY A Rockland County police department is mourning the loss of one of its most loyal and courageous K9s who served the community for years alongside his handler.  The death of retired Clarkstown Police K9 Remy, who served alongside his handler, retired Officer Reekie, was announced by the department on Friday, July 18.  “K9 Remy served with honor and distinction,” the department said in a statement on Friday, adding, "Throughout his years of service, K9 Remy exemplified courage, loyalty, and dedication protecting our officers and the Clarkstown community with unwavering commitment." …

Burger King Armed Robbery: Evidence In Ulster Helps Nab Suspect, Police Say A Dutchess County man has been arrested in connection with an early morning armed robbery at a Burger King in Orange County, police said. The incident happened in New Windsor at around 6:06 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, when police responded to a reported armed robbery at the Burger King located at 376 Windsor Hwy., the New Windsor Police Department announced on Wednesday, April 2.  Upon arrival, police found three employees at the restaurant, including the manager, who reported being assaulted by a male suspect who had what appeared to be a firearm before fleeing the scene.  With …

1 Burglary Suspect In Custody, 2 On Loose After Police Pursuit Ends In Hudson Valley One burglary suspect is in custody but two others remain at large after a police pursuit from Bergen County ended in Rockland overnight. On Saturday, Nov. 2, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the Clarkstown Police Department assisted the Montvale Police Department during a pursuit of a vehicle linked to burglary suspects in its area. The pursuit ended in Nanuet in the vicinity of Lake Nanuet Road and Pittsford Way. Social Media Post Leads To Lockout Of Hudson Valley School A social media threat of violence has led to the lockout of a Hudson Valley school. The incident occurred in Orange County early Thursday, Sept. 19, in Chester. According to Chester Police Chief Daniel Doellinger, officers responded to the Chester Academy after a student reported having seen a threat of violence posted on social media. Hoax Bomb Threat In Capital District Under Investigation A 911 call reporting an armed man with pipe bombs in the Capital District was all just a hoax, police said. Officers were called shortly after noon Monday, Aug. 15 following reports of a man who allegedly had a gun and had placed two pipe bombs in Schenectady near Webster Street and 7th Avenue.
