Feds Detail NY Woman's Alleged Plan To Bomb State Capitol, Kill Senators For ISIS
Federal officials are detailing a New York woman's alleged plan to bomb the State Capitol, kill senators, and flee to ISIS-controlled territory in Syria.
Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, made her initial appearance in federal court on a charge of attempting to provide material support to ISIS, the US Department of Justice said (see criminal complaint attached at the bottom of this news story).
Bowie was arrested Wednesday, Aug. 19, as she took possession of what she believed was an explosive device intended for an attack on the New York State Capitol and state senators, authorities said. …

A muggy Thursday could take a nasty turn across DC, Maryland and Virginia as the afternoon wears on, with severe storms threatening to bring damaging winds, hail, flooding and even a few tornadoes into the evening, forecasters say.
The timing isn't ideal.
Storms are expected to begin firing during the afternoon before becoming more widespread through roughly 4 to 6 p.m., putting parts of the Baltimore-Washington corridor in the crosshairs around the evening commute, according to the National Weather Service.

A Maryland cop who helped turn police reports into props for an insurance fraud scheme is trading his badge for a prison jumpsuit.
Michael Anthony Owen Jr., 37, of Accokeek, was sentenced on Wednesday, Aug. 19, in Greenbelt to six months in federal prison for falsifying records while serving as a Prince George's County Police officer, federal prosecutors announced.
And prison won't be the end of it.
US District Judge Lydia Griggsby also sentenced Owen to two years of supervised release, with the first six months to be served on home detention, and ordered him to pay $17,585 in restitution.…
