An early-morning fire tore through a Rockland County home, displacing as many as 12 residents and killing a dog, according to reports. The blaze broke out at 1 West Burda Place in New City on Saturday, Sept. 12, at around 4:19 a.m., according to the Hillcrest Fire Department. Arriving firefighters found heavy flames and quickly launched an aggressive attack inside the home, the department said. A sprawling New York car theft and resale scheme that netted $5.5 million and shafted more than 120 car owners has been wrapped up with guilty pleas, authorities said Monday, Sept. 14.
