Human Remains Found At Hempstead Harbor In Roslyn An investigation is underway after the remains of a dead man were found on Long Island. Nassau County Police detectives say officers responded to reports of human remains found at Hempstead Harbor in Roslyn just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. In a new update, police say the person has been identified as a 32-year-old from Amityville. His identity has not yet been released. Margy Sandoval was last seen in Manhasset at around noon on Monday, Aug. 26, according to Nassau County Police. Relatives reported her missing at 6 p.m. Sandoval is Hispanic, 5-foot-1 and 220 pounds, with black and red hair, and brown eyes. Someone Set Van On Fire Outside Nassau County Home, Police Seeking Tips Police are investigating after someone set a van on fire outside a Long Island home. The incident happened in North Valley Stream at a residence on Franklin Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Nassau County Police said someone poured a flammable liquid on a Ford Econoline van that was parked in a driveway and set the vehicle on fire. The suspect then ran away heading northbound on Franklin Avenue. Firefighters from the Valley Stream Fire Department responded to the home and extinguished the flames. It happened around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in Brightwaters. According to Suffolk County Police, the victim was driving a 2018 Jeep westbound on Union Boulevard near Johnson Lane when his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a light pole.
