The turtle was trapped inside a cage that had been secured with zip ties and submerged underwater at Geiger Park in Deer Park, the Suffolk County SPCA said Friday, Aug. 28. Town of Babylon park rangers found the turtle while responding to a complaint about e-bikes in the park and pulled the cage out of the lake, the SPCA said. Route 343 Stretch To Close For Year In Dutchess County — Here's Where Drivers in Dutchess County will have to use a detour for a year as a stretch of Route 343 closes for a culvert replacement project.  Route 343, also known as Tinker Town Road, will close between McArthur Place and Little Glenn Avenue in the Town of Dover beginning at noon on Friday, Aug. 28, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.   The closure is expected to remain in place through the end of summer 2027 while crews replace a culvert, NYSDOT said.  Drivers traveling through the area are being advised to follow the posted detour.
