Barber Killed, Child Wounded: Final 2 Men Sentenced In Albany Shooting
The final two men behind a deadly burst of gunfire that left a barber dead and two others wounded — including a child — in Albany have been sentenced to state prison, authorities announced Friday, Sept. 18.
Samir Princeton, 22, of Albany, and Dejoune Smith, 21, of Troy, were sentenced by Judge William Little after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter in July, according to Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon.
Barber Tyrone Staley, 47, was killed after being shot in the torso and shoulder during the May 13, 2023, shooting at Village Barber & Beauty on Second Avenue.

NYU Langone, Upmc To End Gender-Affirming Care For Minors In DOJ Deals
Two major New York and Pennsylvania health systems will stop providing gender-affirming medical care to minors under agreements reached with the US Department of Justice, federal officials announced Friday, Sept. 18.
NYU Langone Hospitals and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, or UPMC, agreed to stop providing puberty blockers, hormones, and surgical procedures to patients younger than 18, according to the DOJ.
NYU also agreed to pay $8.5 million, while UPMC will pay $950,000 as part of the resolutions, the department said.

A New Jersey man shot dead by New York State Police will be remembered at services Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19, according to his loved ones.
Amir Hamza, 45, of Ridgewood, NJ, was killed Monday, Sept. 14 at Whip-o-Will Campground in Ulster County, NY, authorities said.
A funeral prayer for Hamza will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Islamic Center of Passaic County in Paterson, according to a Facebook post from Mahmoud Hamza. A burial at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton will follow.

Stranger Swipes Capital Region Business Credit Card, Racks Up Thousands In Charges: Police
A Capital Region man stole more than $3,000 from a business by swiping a company credit card, police said.
Orquis M. Milan Rosario, 24, of Watervliet, had no known relation to the business but managed to acquire the card, New York State Police said.
State troopers began investigating on Tuesday, Aug. 25 following a complaint from an Albany County company about unauthorized purchases on a company card, authorities said.
The probe led police to Milan Rosario, who used the card “numerous times” throughout July and August, according to state police.

A Capital Region man was arrested for threatening another person by pulling an imitation gun on them, police said.
Craig D. Wilson, 55, of Round Lake, was in a verbal altercation with the other party and displayed what appeared to be a pistol, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said.
Officers responded to the scene — a gas station on Route 9 in Clifton Park — just before 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11 and arrested Wilson, authorities said. Investigators determined the item was a “less-lethal pistol,” according to the sheriff’s office.
